PETROSEN E&P SA is a subsidiary of PETROSEN HOLDING SA created in 2019 from PETROSEN SA. The company is the instrument for implementing Senegal's upstream oil and gas policy. Its missions are the promotion of the hydrocarbon potential of Senegal sedimentary basin, the development and exploitation, the transport by sea, river and land of liquid or gaseous crude hydrocarbons and all maritime, commercial, industrial and financial operations related to these activities.
Oil and gas production began in the 1980s. About 30 Bcf and 66,000 barrels are already produced from several small onshore fields for domestic use.

World class oil and gas fields were discovered in Senegal's offshore deep waters between 2014 and 2017 with a total of 4 oil discoveries in the Sangomar field and 3 gas discoveries in the GTA and Yakaar Teranga fields. There are estimated reserves of 930 million barrels and about 44 Tcf of natural gas that bring the country into the circle of global oil and gas producers in 2023.

Oil and gas field development projects have reached about 80% completion. Production will begin by the end of 2023 with a target of 100,000 barrels of oil per day from the Sangomar field and 2.5 mtpa of LNG export from Phase I of Great Tortue/Ahmeyim (GTA 1), with an overall target of 10 mtpa for the 3 phases.

The Yakaar Teranga project aims to reach FID in 2024 for onshore development. The oil and gas master plan focuses on value chain development and local content. The Gas Master Plan aims to build gas network infrastructure for power generation and chemical plant projects.

Exploration opportunities exist both onshore and in shallow to ultra deep offshore, with a total of 21 blocks open for licensing. G&G information are available with recent 2D and 3D seismic data.
