CEO and Managing Director, Heirs Energies

Engr. Osayande (Osa) Igiehon is the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of Heirs Energies Ltd. the operator of NNPC/Heirs Energies, OML-17 joint venture.
Osa is an accomplished energy sector executive, technocrat and thought leader. In the past 15 years, Osa has either been a Chief Executive Officer with accountability for the enterprise bottomline or has been in senior management positions with responsibility for value delivery, risk management and capability development.

As CEO of Heirs Energies, a start‐up and 2021 entrant into the sector, Osa has built the company’s organization, ethos, and capability from scratch, doubled its oil and gas production, and led the company successfully through a most challenging year in 2022 where the company was hard hit by crude oil theft. With his leadership, Heirs Energies, in less than three years of existence is now widely rated as one of the country’s leading indigenous upstream companies.

Before Heirs Energies, Osa had a 27-year career with Shell, rising to a Group Vice President position, in an outstanding career that saw postings in Nigeria, Netherlands, Russia and Gabon; as well as participating or delivering projects, consultancy, audits or trainings, in all continents except South America.

He had been the last CEO of Shell Gabon, a role where he achieved a well-noted business turnaround and went to successfully transition the company to new owners. His last role in Shell was Vice President for HSSE Assurance & Reporting for the Shell Group.

Domain wise, Osa’s career has spanned Petroleum Engineering, Field Development Planning & Execution, Production & Asset Management, Strategy & Business Planning, Business Transformation & Change Management, Risk Management & Audit, and General Business Management.

Osa is a long-standing active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). Notably, he was the 2013 SPE Nigeria Council Chairman where he recorded landmark achievements for SPE in Nigeria. He has received several commendations for his service to SPE, culminating in his recognition as a Distinguished Member of SPE International in 2016.

Osa is a 1992 graduate of Electrical & Electronics Engineering from the University of Benin. Osa is married with children.
