Mr Jimmy D Mugerwa

Jimmy has a distinguished 27 year career in the Oil & Gas industry including both upstream and downstream. Since 2012 Jimmy has managed the  Tullow business during the transition from the Exploration & Appraisal phase into the Development phase. In this role, he has led the Tullow team in a number of protracted negotiations with the Government of Uganda including the issuance of 5 production licenses, the favorable settlement of a major Capital Gains Tax case and the signing of the MOU that defined the commercial framework for Uganda’s oil industry.

Previously at Shell Oil, Jimmy was the Senior Regional Advisor Sub-Saharan Africa, Shell International BV in the Netherlands. In Kenya, he was Country Chair and General Manager, Shell East Africa. He also worked for Shell Oil Products in Johannesburg as the Africa Retail Marketing Manager. Worked in Shell companies in Uganda , Ghana ,South Africa , Netherlands and Uk

Jimmy holds the Financial Times Non-Executive Director Post-Graduate Diploma and the International Petroleum Management Certificate. He also attended the Executive Business Leadership Programme at IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland. His educational credentials include an MSc in Agricultural Chemicals from the University of Wales, a BSc in Agriculture from Makerere University in Uganda, Negotiation and Relationship Management Master classes, and a number post-graduate qualifications in Oil & Gas.
