Mr Dipo Ashafa
Dipo Ashafa is an Energy professional with almost two decades of Upstream and Midstream experience across multiple regions. He is the Asset Development and Sub-surface Manager for the Shell Development Petroleum Company’s Western Asset.
He began his career as a Reservoir Engineer in 2006, working for Enable Midstream Partners, operating two depleted dry gas reservoir storage fields in the Southwestern Oklahoma region. Since then, Dipo has worked as a Drilling & Completions Engineer for Mobil Production Nigeria, and as the first staff Reservoir Engineer for First Exploration and Petroleum Development Company before joining Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) in 2013.
Initially hired into Shell as a Resource Volume Engineer for the SPDC portfolio, Dipo has held several value delivery roles in Port-Harcourt – Resource Volume Coordinator, Venture Manager, and Field Management Lead - before being transferred to the Shell International HQ in the Netherlands to take on the role of Strategic Business Advisor for the Global Asset Management Excellence Functional Unit supporting operational performance and cost management across the Shell Upstream & Integrated Gas business in over 20 countries and 80 assets. After completing that assignment, he was appointed a Global Business Opportunity Manager for Asset Management Digital. He was tasked to champion the development and deployment of Shell’s first Asset Management Data Platform and later to frame the business case for onboarding and scaling the Shell Digital Twin Program.
In 2021, Dipo returned to Nigeria as the Technical Planning and Integration manager for Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo), with accountability for Shell Nigeria’s Deepwater Strategy, Business Planning, Performance Management, and Business Integration. He held this role until January 1st, 2024, when he was appointed to his current role.
He is an alumnus of The University of Oklahoma (BSc Petroleum Engineering) and Heriot-Watt University (MSc Petroleum Engineering) and the incoming Chairperson of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (Lagos Section).
Dipo is married with two wonderful children. His hobbies include Do-it-Yourself (D-i-Y) home improvement work, Recreational Sports, and Travel.
