Mr Samuel Uko Akpu
Samuel Uko Akpu is a passionate and driven Petroleum and Gas Engineering student at the University of Lagos, currently in his penultimate year. With a strong focus on Reservoir Engineering, he aspires to become a highly skilled professional, contributing to the global energy landscape.
As the Vice President of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) UNILAG Chapter, Samuel has played a pivotal role in organizing industry-focused programs, fostering student engagement, and bridging the gap between academia and the oil and gas sector. He is also an active member of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) UNILAG Chapter, where he continually seeks opportunities for growth and collaboration.
Currently participating in a Leadership Program with Aspire Institute, Samuel is expanding his knowledge in energy, leadership, and professional development. His commitment to excellence has been demonstrated through various achievements, including being part of the team that secured 3rd place in the PetroCup World Student Olympics Africa League. Additionally, he was shortlisted for the Youth in Animation and Post-Production Initiative (YAPPI), a program sponsored by MasterCard and Del-York Creative Academy, and has engaged in technical research within the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) domains.
Samuel has gained practical exposure to the industry through visits to critical energy facilities, such as the NNPC OML 111 Oredo Flow Station in Edo State.
His technical expertise extends beyond petroleum engineering, encompassing 3D Modeling, Mobile App Development, and Data Science. These skills allow him to leverage technology for innovative solutions in engineering and industry applications.
Beyond his technical aspirations, Samuel envisions creating a youth-oriented social group dedicated to developing young African minds, empowering them with knowledge and opportunities to thrive in engineering, technology, and leadership.
He is excited to contribute his insights and perspectives at SAIPEC 2025, bringing his passion for reservoir engineering, industry innovation, and youth development to the forefront.
