Chief. Tony Attah
Engr. Tony Attah is a seasoned executive with over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ibadan (1987) and an MBA from the University of Benin (1997). His leadership development includes programs at IMD (Geneva), INSEAD (France), Harvard, and Cambridge, alongside specialist training in exploration and production, HSE, business economics, and project management.
He began his career at Sokoto Cement Company in 1988 before joining The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC) in 1991. Over the years, he held various technical and leadership roles, including Head of Joint Venture Economics and Asset Superintendent at Soku Gas Plant. His international assignments with Royal Dutch Shell included leading operational readiness for the Sakhalin project in Russia and overseeing Sub-Saharan Africa’s project portfolio.
Upon returning to Nigeria in 2009, Engr. Attah served as General Manager, Shell Western Operations and Sustainable Development, and later as Vice President for HSE and Corporate Affairs, and Vice President for Human Resources in Sub-Saharan Africa. He also led Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) as Managing Director.
In 2016, he was appointed Managing Director and CEO of Nigeria LNG (NLNG), where he led major milestones including the Final Investment Decision for Train 7, the completion of NLNG’s new headquarters, and record production achievements. Under his leadership, NLNG earned multiple accolades, including Company of the Year (2019, 2020), Company of the Decade (2020), and the LNG Global Award (2020). He was named NCDMB Local Content Icon of the Year in 2025.
Engr. Attah is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), a COREN- registered engineer, and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
He has served on several boards, including SPDC, SNEPCo, NLNG, and Bonny Gas Transport Company. Known for his integrity, strategic thinking, and commitment to talent development, he continues to be a respected voice in the energy sector. He is married to Mrs. Oma Attah, and they have two children.
