Segun Kuteyi is the Director, Operations and Chief Operating Officer, Chevron Nigeria/Mid-Africa (NMA) Region for Chevron Offshore Business Unit.

In this role, he oversees Chevron’s 60+ years of onshore, swamp and shallow water resources, assets, and concessions in Nigeria and Mid Africa region covering Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon. These diverse assets reliably explore, produce, process and transport large quantities of ever-cleaner crude oil, natural gas, condensate, liquefied petroleum gas, diesel and naphtha, as affordable energy that enable human progress globally.

Previously, Segun was the Managing Director of Chevron China and head of the China business unit. As the President of Chevron China Energy Company Pte. Ltd. and Unocal East China Sea Ltd., Segun led Chevron’s value-chain business strategies in China, partnering with all stakeholders, based on Chevron’s proud legacy position that began more than a century ago, to provide affordable, reliable, and ever-cleaner energy to drive human progress and support transition to a low-carbon future. He was previously the General Manager of operations for Chevron Pipeline & Power (CPP) in the United States.

Segun joined Chevron in 1996 as a plant/process engineer and has served in several leadership positions of increasing responsibility in Nigeria, USA and China, within operations, facilities engineering, project management, as well as extensive cross-functional experiences as Manager, strategy and business planning; Manager onshore assets within the asset development group; and General Manager, downstream gas under commercial, marketing and business development.

A Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), a senior member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and a long-standing member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Segun graduated from Nigerian universities with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a master’s degree in engineering management. In addition to his short-term executive education at Rice University, SMU, and Harvard Law School, Segun holds a master’s degree (MPhil) and a doctorate (PhD) in Management from Walden University USA, specializing in leadership and organizational strategy. He is happily married with children.
