With a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Physics from the Obafemi Awolowo Univeristy, Olabode did research work on ‘characteristics of compound semiconductors’ and analysis of materials used in flow mechanics. . Subsequently, he has worked in Consulting with KPMG, Business and Technology research with eShekels Limited, events management with AITEC Africa, freelance writing for Business Day & the Guardian Newspapers; tactical & strategic Marketing and media relations with Ericsson.

He served as a free lance columnist with various papers where he wrote on internet based and ecommerce enabling technologies in the early part of the century. His experience as a software sales person has given unique bite and practical insight into his business development, strategic marketing and corporate strategy initiatives.

Olabode also served as head of Marketing & Communications for Ericsson (West Africa), where he was part responsible for the Marketing, events, brands & communications efforts for the company in West Africa. Latter he was with Harris-Stratex Communications as Territory manager. In 2010 he made a switch to the Energy Industry starting with consultancy to provide the framework for the designing of an Energy Publication called Energia Today.

In 2007, The GSM Association (GSMA), the MTN Group & Ericsson began the project on converting the fuel (diesel) used in base stations to Bio Fuels. The pilot projects were executed in Barcelona (Spain) and Lagos (Nigeria) and I was the project manager for the project. The project’s success lead to my being interviewed by a TV station in Catalonia.

I led the team that analyzed & advised the NASS on the electricity tariff increases. He is the Consultant to the House Committee on Gas, Senior Legislative Adie (SLA) to the Senate President on Gas & Power, Vice-Chair Gas-to-Power Study Group of the Nigerian Gas Association (NGA) and a member of the Group of Experts on Gas to the United Nations Economic Commission on Europe (UNECE).

He has featured on AIT, Channels Television, (South African Broadcast Commission) SABC TV, etc; as guest Energy Analyst, and as a consultant on energy matters. He has been invited as an observer at OPEC meetings. He has also been invited to the Ministry of petroleum in Saudi Arabia as a guest of the king’s palace. He is a co-owner of an energy consultancy called Cabtree Limited and the Publisher of Energia Today; where he also doubles as the editor-at-large. He has been a member of the African Business Roundtable (ABR) since 2006 as young consultant. He currently serves as consultant to the House Committee on Power and the Senate committee on Gas.
