Dr. Amaijaan Bertram Ikuru assumed the role of Director of the Corporate Services Directorate on December 8, 2023, following an impressive career trajectory marked by expertise in various domains. His primary responsibilities encompass overseeing the facilities and logistics, ICT, and HSSE Divisions, and consolidating their operations under a unified directorate.

Before his current appointment, Dr. Ikuru held the position of Director of Capacity Building, where he played a pivotal role in enhancing skills, knowledge, and infrastructural capabilities within the oil and gas industry. His tenure as General Manager of the Capacity Building Division witnessed significant revitalization and streamlining of capacity development projects, including initiatives like the Nigerian Content Equipment Certification (NCEC) and the Marine Vessel Categorization Scheme.

Dr. Ikuru brings extensive experience from his 22-year tenure at Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC), where he held notable positions such as Manager of Programme Management Office – Fit for the Future Programme, Manager of Upstream International Cost Ambition Programme, Manager of Community Content Development, and Head of Corporate Affairs Planning and Strategy. His contributions were acknowledged with prestigious awards like the Royal Dutch Shell CEO Award of Excellence and Special Recognition Awards for exceptional performance and social achievement. Ama Ikuru also served as an Assistant Manager in the Michelin Nigeria Limited Drawing office from 1989 to 1996. 

His expertise spans strategy creation, organizational cost efficiency, stakeholder management, contract finance, and human capital development, reflected in the commendable programs he has established to bolster indigenous capacity in the oil and gas sector.

Dr. Ikuru holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, complemented by a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a PhD in Management (Business Policy and Strategic Management) from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt and a Certificate of Management Excellence from Harvard Business School. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and a prolific writer, with numerous publications and conference papers to his credit.
