The Nigerian Gas Association (NGA), a chartered member of the International Gas Union, is the apex non-partisan organization representing the varied and numerous stakeholders within the Nigerian Natural Gas Industry Value Chain. Established in 1999 to champion the development of Natural Gas in Nigeria for the benefit of the nation and its stakeholders.
Today, NGA’s membership includes international and indigenous oil & gas companies, and a variety of other corporate and individual members whose operations span activities along the vast natural gas value chain – from upstream exploration and production, midstream processing and transportation, to downstream distribution and the various end user entities. Included in this list are critical subsectors of the economy such as: Power Generation, Gas Based Industries like fertilizer and petrochemicals, other Industrial and Commercial Consumers, factories and related commercial outlets which use gas as fuel or feedstock.
Our vision is to be the lead advocate and most influential, independent non-profit organization, working to effectively advance the role of Gas as the preferred energy source, while serving as the platform for championing the development of the gas industry for Nigeria’s long-term energy sufficiency.
The NGA’s mission is to actively champion the competitiveness and utilisation of Natural Gas by promoting sound policy development, capacity development and best practices towards optimising the economics of the entire gas value chain, while emphasising environmental sustainability and safety.
The five core objectives of the NGA are:
• Advocacy to Shape Policy and Legislation.
• Investment Promotion
• Promotion of Standards and Best Practices
• Capacity Building
• Becoming the Industry Resource Centre of Choice.
